Sony’s new FX9 is an impressive piece of engineering. Combining the latest design of full frame, high resolution sensors with a traditional camcorder form factor, the FX9 can capture beautiful shallow DOF footage with an impressive 15 stops of dynamic range.
If there has been one outstanding criticism it has been related to powering the camera with proprietary batteries and an unusual PSU voltage of 19.5Volts.
There are competing solutions to adapt the FX-9 to use professional V-Lock batteries and Paul Ream from Extrashot thinks he has found the best on the market; it’s from Holdan’s manufacturer - CoreSWX.
