The Powerful reach of PTZ Monk

Cables are the bane of every sports and live concert venue when considering camera installations. You have to think about location as well as power, control, audio and video. In terms of distance between controller and camera you can easily be looking at measuring it in hundreds of meters or even kilometres. Power isn’t always available in the location you’ve chosen for a camera, so the system has to support that too. Traditional copper wiring may not be able to support the signal back over the distance required and it may even need to be able to withstand large fluctuations in temperature.

FieldCast understand these considerations and have worked hard to develop a family of products to overcome the headaches of cabling a large venue, whether temporarily or permanently. When combined this family of products can complement any IP PTZ camera and controller set up as it acts transparently and transports signals at the speed of light.

FieldCast @ ISE 2020

Fiber Base One is designed to be located in a rack near the control room and supplies mains power to other FieldCast units in its cascade chain. The Fiber Base One can also output up to four 3G SDI signals and support an ethernet connection. The Fiber Base One is connected via standard SMPTE fiber cable to its sister unit the Fiber Node one.

The Fiber Node One can support up to four PTZ Monk units which in turn support power, ethernet and return 3G SDI video from the connected PTZ camera.

This cascade of units allows power and control to flow to the PTZ cameras and SDI video to follow back to the Fiber Base One where it can be fed into a converter, matrix, videohub or switcher. A handy feature of the Fiber Node one is its SDI outputs allowing local monitoring or distribution of the incoming camera signals.
