The device supports nearly all HDMI and USB UVC sources to livestream to Facebook Live, Twitch, YouTube, and other social sites, or can be used to create a webcam source for Microsoft Teams, Slack, Zoom, and other conferencing software.

The implementation of the AtomOS Lite software provides an intuitive and easy-to-use experience for new customers. The software includes all the essential tools, so it feels familiar for existing customers too. With a compact form factor, the SuperAtom IPS 5-inch (1000nit) display, Wi-Fi 5, USB-C, and Ethernet (via USB-C adapter) connectivity, as well as, NP-F battery or USB-C PD power options, ZATO CONNECT is an ideal companion for livestreaming in the field, the studio, or wherever else it travels.

Stream From Anywhere

Livestreaming and high-quality video conferencing is made easy and accessible with ZATO CONNECT. With support for HDMI and USB UVC cameras or video sources, the device is equipped with Wi-Fi 5, Gigabit Ethernet (via USB-C), and the ability to join cellular hotspots, everyone can stream to Facebook Live, Twitch, and YouTube, or create high-quality video for Microsoft Teams, Slack, and Zoom from anywhere.

Streaming Simplified

Anyone can setup a livestream (using ATOMOS Cloud Studio) and create high-value video content with the easy-to-use ZATO CONNECT. The 5-inch touchscreen display can be used to switch between sources and monitor the outgoing program stream. The device is compact enough to mount on a DSLR or mirrorless camera rig. It’s equally at home next to a PC, Mac computer, or gaming console. Streaming has never been easier and ZATO CONNECT is the ideal, all-in-one solution.

Comprehensive I/O

While incredibly compact, the ZATO CONNECT lives up to its name. Featuring input and output ports for both HDMI and USB UVC, the device can transform the output from a wide array of video equipment into a livestream or webcam source. The 3.5mm audio jack can also be used to add microphone or line sources and the ZATO CONNECT can be used to mix them with embedded audio from HDMI or USB UVC.

Go Live or As Live!

Each livestream can be recorded as local H.264 backup to an SD card. With the ability to combine recorded sources with live content, it’s possible to take one of these recordings and stream the content “as live” with ZATO CONNECT. This opens lots of creative opportunities and adds value to any stream or video presentation.

Get your Audio in the Mix

ZATO CONNECT includes an audio mixer, which can be used to adjust and combine audio signals from the 3.5mm analog input with the embedded audio from HDMI and USB UVC sources. Each channel can be adjusted independently and mixed down to a single stereo track for a livestream, recording, or video presentation.

An Essential Toolkit

Whether it’s configuring streams, switching between sources, recording, playback, mixing audio, or adding effects, AtomOS Lite on the ZATO CONNECT makes it all a breeze. The software features a number of key tools including overlay effects, image zoom, and frame guides that will help add value to every stream or video conference.

Create an Identity

Whether through a livestream or virtual meeting, video has become an everyday part of all our lives. Today businesses, influencers, entrepreneurs, houses of worship, and educators all use video to establish an identity or reinforce a brand. Compelling content can make a difference and help emphasize branding, core messages, or even empower sponsorship opportunities. Applying graphic overlays to streams or watermarking recorded content is easy with ZATO CONNECT.

Holdan @ IBC 2022 | Reflections

Empowering Content Everywhere... after a 3-year break While we would normally say ‘another year, another IBC’, this year was different, as IBC was returning for the first time in three years, thanks to a COVID-induced break. Much was the same – certainly the broadcasters, bitterballen and boats – although the carnage at Schiphol Airport was a first for many IBC veterans. Barcelona anyone?

  • Changes to Frame.io C2C Implementation
  • Changes to RTMP Streaming Implementation

Refer to the AtomOS Lite 10.05.00 Release Notes for more information on the features, improvements, and known limitations.

Firmware Update Procedure:

Atomos recommends that your Zato CONNECT is plugged into a USB-C PD power adapter (>20W) or is connected to a freshly charged battery before commencing the firmware update. If you already own a Ninja V or V+, you can also use the NP-F battery eliminator and power supply shipping with either of them, as it’s also compatible with Zato CONNECT.

  1. Factory Reset your Zato CONNECT via the “Reset Device” button in the About Device menu within the General tab to prepare it for the new update.
  2. Format an SD Card in exFAT or FAT32 via a computer or the Zato CONNECT. You can find more information on compatible SD Cards via this link.
  3. Download the latest version of AtomOS Lite from: https://my.atomos.com.
  4. Unzip the compressed package and move the .BIN file to the SD Card’s root directory.
  5. Ensure that your Zato CONNECT is powered off.
  6. Insert the SD Card into the Zato CONNECT’s SD Card slot.
  7. Connect a fully charged battery or USB PD power adapter (>20W) to the Zato CONNECT.
  8. Press the power button to reboot.
  9. Zato will go through several update screens and will initially show the Atomos logo without a progress bar.
  10. The device will reboot several times throughout the update process and will reboot after the installation is complete.
  11. After the Zato reboots, you’ll be presented with a welcome message, detailing the new features introduced in this release.

Note: Factory resetting your device before or after updating your Zato CONNECT is mandatory to ensure that all the new features introduced in this release work properly.

Note: Due to the large number of streaming and social media platforms that accept custom RTMP sources for live streaming, it is not possible to test every available option. Please take a look at our FAQ article that lists the platforms that have been tested so far, and don't hesitate to reach out to our support team if a streaming platform you'd like to use isn't available. https://atomos.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/sections/205529868-Setup-connectivity

Note: Currently, this device only supports streaming to sites that don't require authentication unless they accept it as part of the URL.

Addition of quick access Overlay Preset buttons

Hide and Show Overlay Presets without the need to go into the Overlay Menu

  • Once you've configured an Overlay Preset in the Layout Menu, you can show/hide it via the new quick access buttons in the bottom row menu. Just press the blue overlay icon once, and you'll be presented with four buttons mapped to your custom Overlay Presets.

Known Limitations to be resolved in future releases:

  • Applying a PNG overlay might result into it showing up with a jagged white outline.
  • Turning on Ethernet turns the USB UVC Output OFF. Turning off the Ethernet restores the USB UVC Output functionality.
  • The AtomX CAST’s USB UVC output of the program feed doesn’t get detected. We recommend connecting to the ZATO CONNECT via the CAST’s HDMI PGM Out port.
  • Any overlay graphic layouts that were previously created and saved in one of the ZATO's overlay slots will need to be reset and recreated after installing AtomOS Lite 10.02.01, or they may not be displayed as intended.
