LED lights the way for ITV Cameraman
Datavision's LED range of lighting has been a success in the market because of its marriage of essential features, output, low energy consumption and attractive pricing. Complete built-in dimmer control and optional wireless remote, the LED-600 is a portable unit that is ideal for shooting interviews in the field.
The light from the LED-600 is equivalent to an 860 watt tungsten. Weighing only 2Kg and sporting a V-Mount battery plate, it is great for use both on location in full sunshine, as well as indoors, as an essential alternative to practical lighting.
Tim Hughes of Reel Television works as a contract lighting cameraman with ITV. He has used LED-600s in all environments ranging from mines, to breweries where mains power would be unsafe, to public places and even as a fill on a weather presenter backlit at sunset.
He comments: “I get a lot of very positive feedback about how good shots look when the LED-600s are used and would recommend them to any camera operator."
As a broadcast cameraman, Hughes needs lighting on the run, wherever the channel sends him. He says: “I have two LED 600's and I use them daily on everything from news to network programmes. I love their versatility: even on camera batteries they are up and running instantly and provide a great soft light. They can be moved quickly without trailing leads and packed away without having to cool off.”
The LED-600 light is part of a growing range that includes ultra-bright studios LEDs with built-in DMX controllers and discreet on-camera LED units.
